To say that 2020 started off in an "odd" way
is an understatement.
Even though the tower has been closed to the public, there has been plenty of things going on
in the background.
We have certainly been busy at the tower!
This is a before and after shot of an old sign from the Rougham Tower Museum that's been in storage for many years. It was not in the best condition, and has now been repainted.
It's now going to be put out each day we're open.
Most of the new cabinets have been built and old ones improved and painted, We've laid out many of the artifacts in the finished displays.
We have been labelling everything and putting down the history on the display boards. These will include a timeline of Rougham from the 1930's to the present day, and also more detail of the ground personnel and squadrons that flew from here.
The team have been working hard, to be ready for opening day.
It is a work in progress, so please bear with us as we improve the displays, and add to them.
The US Memorial Day was the 25th of May.
While we couldn't be open, we still remembered those of the 94th and all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and paid our respects.
Two fields close to the intersection of the runways at Rougham have been full of poppies. They have become quite famous in Suffolk and attracted lots of people.
It is a stunning display, and may never be repeated when the building work begins again.
A bit of artistic license was used for the above picture, as three signs had to be removed!
Later than planned, we were pleased to announce the tower would open again on the 12th of July.
We have had a bit of a change around, and updated many of the displays.
We hope you like what we have done, and we look forward to seeing you very soon..
Photos from a fantastic weekend with members of the Tail End Charlies and Home Guard
re-enactment groups putting on some amazing displays. These groups were here on the
23rd of August.
The tower is now lit up during the evening. Have a look, when driving past.
